QUANTIFIERS (CONTAINERS)
VOCABULARY:
A BOTTLE OF |
A BOTTLE OF... water, wine, beer, ketchup, juice, oil, soda.
A PACK OF |
A PACK OF... gum.
A JAR OF |
A JAR OF... jam, jelly, fruit, mustard.
A TUBE OF |
A TUBE OF... toothpaste, lipstick, shampoo.
A CAN OF |
A CAN OF... fruit, beer, soda, paint.
A BOX OF |
A BOX OF... candy, cereal, salt, sugar.
Because uncountable nouns in English do not have plurals and cannot be counted in the normal way, quantifiers are often used as a way of "measuring" them. The basic quantifiers are some, any, a little, and a lot of, but there are many more.
